AP® Scholar Awards Announced for Ascension Episcopal School

Ascension Episcopal School
AP courses are academically rigorous high school courses that are designed to be taught at the college level.  At the end of each course, in May, students sit for a standardized exam designed by the College Board to determine whether or not they meet the expectations of college-level work.  Examinees receive a score of 1-5, with scores of 3-5 receiving a positive recommendation from the College Board.  Most colleges and universities award college credit to students based on the results of their exams, though the specific qualifications and credits awarded differ by institution.  When both AP and dual enrollment courses are factored into the equation, the majority of Ascension students are able to earn some amount of college credit through work completed here at Ascension.

The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ cumulative performance on all AP Exams attempted.  Seventeen Ascension students earned recognition as AP Scholars based upon their exceptional achievement on these college-level exams in the 2022-2023 school year.

One student qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.  This student is Madeleine Sorrell (‘23).

Marie (‘24), and Aidan Stewart (‘24) earned the AP Scholar with Honor Award.
