Students Shine on Stage with Thrilling Production of The Game’s Afoot
Ascension Episcopal School
The theater program at Ascension Episcopal School recently delivered a captivating performance of The Game’s Afoot, a comedy mystery that kept audiences on the edge of their seats. This year’s fall production showcased the incredible talent and teamwork of 8th–12th grade students, with not one but two casts bringing the story to life over multiple nights.
The decision to have dual casts allowed more students to take center stage and demonstrate their acting abilities. Each cast brought its own unique energy and interpretation to the show, giving audiences an engaging and fresh experience each night.
Behind the curtain, the production was a true testament to the power of collaboration. For the first time, an entirely student-led crew handled everything from lighting and sound to stage management and props. Their hard work and dedication ensured every performance ran smoothly, seamlessly blending behind-the-scenes magic with on-stage drama.
Director Derrick Millard, in his debut directing role at Ascension, shared his excitement about the students' accomplishments, saying, "It’s incredible to see these young performers grow and step into such dynamic roles. From the actors to the crew, everyone gave 110%, and it really showed."
Congratulations to both casts, the crew, and everyone involved in making The Game’s Afoot such a memorable production. Thank you to our families, our Fine Arts Alliance, and the school community for your unwavering support of the arts. This performance truly highlighted the creativity and commitment of our talented students.
Stay tuned for our next production in the spring, Matilda the Musical—you won’t want to miss this incredible 6th - 12th grade show!
