Ascension Episcopal closes out regular season with stellar win over Lafayette Renaissance

In what was their final tune-up before the playoffs get underway in a week, the Ascension Episcopal Blue Gators looked like a team ready to make a run.
Behind strong performances from running back Andre Abshire, quarterback Branon Mitchell and the Blue Gators’ defense, Ascension Episcopal closed out the regular season Thursday with an impressive 35-22 win over the Lafayette Renaissance Tigers at Clark Field.
“Unbelievable,” Blue Gators head coach Stephen Hearen said. “That’s a really good team we just played. That was a pre-playoff game experience without the ultimate stakes. That’s a huge win for us.”
