Ascension Episcopal Middle School eSports Team Competing Nationally

Ascension Episcopal School
Ascension Episcopal School is excited to announce the formation of its first middle school competitive eSports team, ready to take on the nation in the Generation eSports league. This initiative is a significant milestone, making Ascension one of the few schools in the state to participate at a national level.

Each week, the Blue Gator eSports Team competes in online tournaments against other middle schools. Coaches Morgan Vondenstein and Lynley Jones expressed their enthusiasm for this opportunity. “We’re thrilled to provide our students with this unique opportunity,” said Coach Vondenstein. “eSports is not just about gaming; it promotes teamwork, strategic thinking, and communication skills. These are essential skills that will benefit them both in and out of the classroom.”

The team is currently mid-season and will enter playoffs in mid-November. The students participating in the Super Smash Bros. tournament are currently ranked 4th in the region. Participants have shown great excitement and pride in representing their school on a national stage.

Coach Jones added, “This is a great way for students to connect and make new friends. They’ve shown incredible dedication and teamwork already, and it’s inspiring to see their hard work pay off. This team represents not just our school, but also the potential of young gamers everywhere.”

As the eSports landscape continues to grow, Ascension Episcopal School is proud to be at the forefront, fostering teamwork, strategy, and critical thinking skills among students.
